It's been a crazy crazy few weeks for me. In the past month I started a new job and, much as I love it, trying to work out how everything works on top of moving into a new flat, running down to Brighton and back for a hen do, squeezing in a city break to Barcelona followed by a swift hospital visit left me feeling a bit rubbish.
I've been so caught up in the trials and tribulations of everyday life lately I've completely overlooked taking time out to relax and look after myself a little.
I'm lucky that, although I live in the city, I've got the beautiful Cheshire countryside a short train journey away, so last weekend I spent some much needed time doing nothing more than walking, eating, reading, and relaxing. It made such a huge difference to my mental health and I found myself 1 million times less stressed during the working week that followed.
It feel like the news is constantly running stories about anxiety in young women and, to be honest, this never really surprises me. Nowadays, we're all under so much pressure to be all things to all people, it's no wonder the cracks are beginning to show. If I've learned one thing recently, it's that it's so important to occasionally turn your phone off, and allow yourself to think about nothing for a few hours. Spending your free time reading and responding to work e-mails wont make you a better, more successful person, just a more stressed one.
